Re: B.R.G.A. Open Day Sunday 11th May 2014 10am-10pm
Ok so I have checked with the boss and I am good for the open day on Sunday the 11th
I can do dropzone, firestorm, dreadball and 40k but as we have a lot of 40K players I am happy to demo any of the others.
With firestorm and dropzone the game lends itself well to rolling reserves so as units get taken out we can just bring them back on allowing people to use them and take part in the game till the unit is destroyed or they get board while having a battle that lasts all day long?
ALEX TO CONTACT MANTIC GAMES PATHFINDER CHAP.

Ryan - IWill contact Paul and Andy, they were the guys from Pompey who did the war machine mini tourney and even made leather key fob prizes... Otherwise do we have enough pro painted war machine and hordes models? Ideally we want ZERO poor / unpainted minis at the open day
Sam - its on my to do list but sorry v busy not got to it yet. You could try asking Wayne Johnston (Jimmy Jazz), Stephane Boiron (johnny ktou), Aaron stemp (wolfie ate one), maybe even Elvis / Tony / rich billingshurst

would it be worth having a Apoc game running to really show off?

I'd say no as that's a lot of models to paint if not we would have to add a lot of ppl into it and more than 4 ppl in a game is a nightmare

but a game that size would require to meany tables to play on mind you lol
but we got it as an option.
frank how do you intend to do modelling and scenery building workshop on the day as they are both rather time consuiming and require models and scenery to start with.

Re: B.R.G.A. Open Day Sunday 11th May 2014 10am-10pm
I have posted this on whatsapp but thought I would add here.
If we do well with the open day then we could maybe do it each year and have a theme for each one. D-day for one, battle of Hoth for another and so on.
The team that dose the best job for their allotted system could get a prize of some sort not to mention it could encourage us to build more terrain for the club each year.

Re: B.R.G.A. Open Day Sunday 11th May 2014 10am-10pm
Right lets sort this out now shall we.
Sam
good call on the tables we can have them set up all day but if we can fit in a couple more systems then that is good to as we want to show off as much as we can. Maybe a dry run a Tuesday before the day just to make sure we are happy with the floor plan
Elvis I see where you are coming from with not wanting to get stuck with one game all day but just cos there will be a 40k table up and running all day does not mean it has to be manned by the same people all day.
We could allocate 3 hour slots for tables so if people want they can have 3 hours of 40k and then 3 hours of fire storm and so on.
This is best cos it means we don’t have to mess around with changing tables around and moving terrain. Also means that tables will be running games all day so someone who turns up later in the day won’t miss out seeing one game being played earlier on that was then packed away for something else and we wont go mad from playing the same thing all day.
As for other non clube people bringing their armies along to play on the day it is a nice idea but we are going to be pushed for space and I don’t really know how much playing we will really get done if people are asking questions all the time like what is that and how does that work, best to let them have a little go whith the stuff we are using on the tables and then let them move onto the next system.
In fact I think we should all accept if we get to finish a game it is a bonus and this is more a show off and tell day with a little play. It might help if we have some people free roaming who can answer peoples questions instead of interrupting games?

My sentiments entirely , thanks Alex for the diplomacy.
Re: B.R.G.A. Open Day Sunday 11th May 2014 10am-10pm
You then need to be careful about how you advertise the open day as people might think it means that they can just pop down and have a free game

Re: B.R.G.A. Open Day Sunday 11th May 2014 10am-10pm
I am happy to just play 40k all day. I don't think I can do 10-10. I will do 4-10 i think. If that's ok? Maybe earlier if missus allows it.
I will run The auction for old miniatures from 6pm.
There will be a 10% auction house cut that goes to the club.
The miniatures must be present in order to be auctioned,
Cash only. No promises, no bank transfers. Cash there and then.
Ideally we want to have complete kits and models, but bring anything you have to sell.
I have lizard men, shaven and tomb kings to sell so I can at least have something to get it started.
Is Charlie's going to have a stall to sell dice?

Lol you won’t be playing 40k all day if you can only turn up at 4 and then start an Auction at 6 will you now Stephen lol
I can turn up all day though I will have to have my little boy with me for a while but he will love it.
Oh and this is Sams floor plan for the day.
ok now this is just my idea of how the day might progress so feel free to say I am wrong lol
If we can get down there for 9:00 to set up and then open the doors to the public at 10.00
Each table can have a seris of sessions of about 3 hours that we can book up to demo our games
session 1 from 10:00-1:00
session 2 from 1:00-3:00
session 3 from 3:00-6:00
auction from 6:00-7:00
session 4 from 7:00-10:00
seeing as most of us might not be gaming nonstop all day we can fit eating in to our free time.
If you are not gaming on a table then we can wonder around talking to people about getting into the hobby.
As for painting prizes it would be good if we could get a glass display case to place them in to keep them safe yet easy to view.
As we have a fair few tables and a yet unknown number of people turning up to help it might be worth having a couple of tables just up and ready for anybody who happens to bring an army along so they can play and hopefully encourage them into joining the club. As it is if we have 2 people on each table we will need 22 of us to attend and I just don’t see that happening.
Also as I have stated I have got permission from the boss to be there all day and I have well painted stuff to assist with a number of systems so can fill in gaps where needed and wonder around like a loon talking to people when not.
