The Hour is NIGH!

Right so as you aware I am wanting to run a completely bragging rights based league for our 40k players. I would like this to be able to fit in around the other games we play at club too, so my proposal is this we play 12 within a time frame of six months. (Pretty sure that evens out at 2 league games a month if you want to do it steadily)

Games for the league can be of any points value up to 2.5k and and will only use battle missions from the main rulebook (as we dont know or have access to many others). As for opponents You can face anyone else who is participating in this league but you can NOT face the same person twice in a row.


Victory Points (VP's)

As for VP's these will be awarded as follows: 2 for a win
                                                                 1 for a draw
                                                                 0 for a loss

PLEASE NOTE- FIRST BLOOD WILL NOT BE AWARDED. BUT SLAY THE WARLORD AND LINE BREAKER WILL STILL BE INCLUDED.

winners of games will be determined in the usual way for the game type that is being played by the two opponents but incase of ties by the end of the league can we all keep track of kill points (whole units destroyed for and against. this includeds all units who are falling back and have NOT rallied by the end of the game).


Conditions

This is the part I think most of you are interested in. Right as far as army lists go Im not going to impose much

Forge World.... is allowed, basically IA army lists as long as they have the 40k Approved (and your opponent agrees)
No Escalation rules so lords of war are out
Allies are Allowed
Supplement codex's are allowed
Data slates are allowed
No stronghold Assault

and not to forget I will NOT be deeming the Imperial Knight a non useable unit in this league nor will i be comping the scary wraithknight or riptide.

I think ive covered everything there need to be covered hope you all enjoy this.

Any questions please dont hesitate to ask.

I am proposing this runs from games day, so if there are peolpe playing 40k then if they both agree then it can be counted towards the league.

I'm in. But I think that if two opponents are tied at the end then kill points can't be used as a tie-breaker as their games they played previously might differ considerably in kill points. For example one person may have played all "purge the alien" games and the other may have just played relic games which we know can be a considerable difference in VP's.

All the kill points are used for are if league points are tied say if two people had 10 league points then those kill points for Will be subtracted from those against and the difference will be used to determine place 1st 2nd 3rd etc. Make sense? The kill points are not scenario based they're a constant sort of like goals for and against.

I'd like to put my voice in against proxy.
I don't mind things like metla bombs. But not weapons that are not on a model, eg, saying a flamer is a melta gun. Etc.

why?

As long as you've both looked at each others army lists and you've discussed what model/unit has what, it shouldn't be a problem.

So I can use my rhinos as razorbacks? Where is the limit here. I'll give all my grey knight terminators thunder hammers etc. When I make my models. That's what I have give them, therefore, that's what they use. If I W's t a different weapon. I use a different model or go without.
No one answer is right, but personally I don't like it.

I'm afraid I agree with Stephen I always make models as I intend to use them as I have had to many games where a proxy or 2 has been added to either make up points or beef up models. Melta bombs I can except because they are fairly discreet but weapons that don't exist can (I think) ruin realism, and game play as normally you measure from barrel to target. If there is no barrel range cannot be determined. Close combat is a problem when you have a model holding a gun with both hands and saying he actually has a pistol and a mace. . . Where's the realism

Proxy within reason is fine for me as I know this is not a cheap hobby and to have units with every weapon combination is not cost effective not to mention annoying when some new weapon comes out and you got to convert old mins to carry them. I love it and have lots of unit with every combination but that is cos I am quite mad and been collecting for years. Very Happy 

So long as a heavy weapon is proxy for heavy weapon and special for special then I am good for it so long as it is stated at the start of the game. tanks get a little more tricky as they are much more important for range and line of sight so I have to draw a line there in some cases.

Your argument is reasonable I won't deny that. But I am still not comfortable with it in a tournament either. Friendly games where both players agree, that's ok, but personally I don't proxy. And I much prefer if my opponent doesn't as it leads to an uncomfortable discussion on the table.
One example o could say is, my imperial knight, I have given it the thermal cannon, I am not intending on using the battle cannon, so I built him without it. That's my tough luck if that would have been beneficial to me. A good general uses the tools he has available to his men!

Good generals use magnets so they can swap their weapons around have the right tool for the right situation  lol!

for about 90% you can but i will confess your GK are a bit stuffed with sheer number of options as are SoB who are normally solid metal.....

Hi Tony

I am thinking it might be a very good idea to hold of the the league until we have gotten 7th ed under our belts a bit as it promises to be a different ball game as well as requiring a number of potential house rules.

Any way have a look at this.
