New Skill for Stunty Players
Guys,
Would you all allow us to playtest a new skill Dave Downes and I have been discussing for Stunties? We believe it would make the stunty teams slightly more playable...
Flings and Snotlings would start with this skill and cost 30k. Only Stunties may take this Agility skill.
Evade
Before the player with this skill is Blocked or Blitzed, make an agility roll for them with the following modifiers:
Per Point the Attacker's agility is GREATER than the Defender -1
Per point the Attacker's agility is LESS than the Defender +1
If successful, the result of the block is a Push Back, as the player decides to step away seconds before the blow lands.
If failed, calculate the result of the Block or Blitz normally.
Only players with the Stunty Extraordinary Characteristic can take this skill, as normal Bloodbowl players would consider too retreat cowardly (as do the fans)!
what do you think? C'mon, give the flings a chance!

Re: New Skill for Stunty Players
How much would your fling cost then?
This skill is very very good: against most opponent (all but elves actually) stunties will have a 50% chance to avoid blocks and then with dodge it's another 1 in 6 chance to put him down... So most of the time with a non block attacker your chance to knock a stunty down is only 15% with a 2 dice block (as a reminder, a 1 dice block without block against a non dodge player is 33%)...
Against better killers (usually with a worse Ag) it ends up being a 3+ evade... (10% to knock a stunty down with a 2 dice block...)
Stunties are here to provide a challenge to the coach.
I'd be more than happy to help Halflings with alternative players, like Thieves (Sure Hand), Muggers (Dirty Player, Stab), Forester (Chainsaw), Game Wardens (Diving Tackle); or even give them lots of Star Players options (there is a whole pdf on this if you want to have a look Frank).

Re: New Skill for Stunty Players
I really like the concept Frank :-)
The only thing I would suggest is giving them -1 to their agifor every tackle zone they are in?
I know this may not be too great as I'm sure people would say dodge kind of negate that in fluff terms but you could state this is a controlled dodge and with the pushback the stunty could decide where to be push back to?
Also for failedEvades I think they should suffer extra damage/penalties for being splatted in mid air :-)

Re: New Skill for Stunty Players
All these evade things are already included in the rules set though:
-trying to get out of an opponent's hands is done by Dodging out of tackle zones (while the opponent is trying to jump on you),
-Dodge and Stunty give the edge to stunties by making the escape out easier and through other player's tackle zones,
-when blocked by an opponent, Dodge gives the extra chance not to be knocked down
-Side Step, when earned, allows the player to just sneak anywhere when Blocked (and pushed back)
Adding more skills (or modifying the rules set) and you're affecting the balance of not only the stunty teams, but the overall balance of the game (imagine two headed goblins or skinks with Evade...)

Re: New Skill for Stunty Players
what if the Evade skill could be earned instead of given as a starting trait?
i suppose that would make it a little fairer?
