Tau or Guard i need help?

Ok guys i want to start building a 2nd army and narrowed it down to these 2. I want something in contrast to my tyranids and i also like to know my army is the best at a given task. So my question to u guys. If i wanted to pick an army with the best range and firepower what one would it be?. Tau or Guard?.

Yes I agree. That's why I play nids as i love the fluff and looks. I have the guard necron elder and grey knights dex and out of them guard is the one i like the most. I will probily get the tau dex next week to get a better understanding on the army. Plus i love reading all the mini story's in them :-)

well Tau have the range and power but guard have the numbers.
and Tau suck at combat..........i mean really suck lol.

True the Tau only have 3 tanks…… but the hammerhead is freeking awesome lol
At the end of the day it is down to what you like the look of as both armies are similar in play style.
For me I love the sleek lines and fact they are not human

I like both planning to get the tau codex tomorow and have a read. I have seen some battle reports on YouTube with guard and in some cases the firepower is sick but it seems a bit 50/50 also love the idear of orders. But I like how if tau want something dead its dead. I will have a better understanding when i get the codex. Also what may sway it is the fact i believe after talking with some of u guys last week the guard are getting a new codex next year so that may sway it towards the tau as there's is already out.

Lol yes agree. Sometimes when i watch a battle report on YouTube and i see what the guard bring to the table i just think wow thats going to hurt.

if it were me i know id go guard more importantly id take the wait for it.........ELYSIAN DROP TROOPS they are by far my fave when it comes to guard and one day once my painting is good enough and i have the cash then I too shall play guard lol

Do you get Valkieryes and vultures and lots of them?

Nothing say guard like Soviet tactics from ww2: the red god of war smashing the enemy apart followed by a few thousand bayonet armed lemmings with attached lasguns followed up with a few hundred tanks and more artillery

What says "I'm out to kill the enemies of the imperium" better than a ton of beach buggies armed to the teeth followed up with an attack wing of Vultures and Vendettas that drop Flamer/melta armed sentinels and MOAR Elysians LOL

An updated version of the DKK Codex is on the Forgeworld website, it's so fun. Gonna try Guard and DKK allies on Tuesday against Sam, that's gonna be interesting

Do your infantry squads have WS4 Tony? Or platoons of Rough Riders with 2 Wounds each? Do you have engineers that can drill their way through buildings (and your army)? Enough said

Sorry its Death Korps for me they look too god dam good. Thanks for your replays guys btw. Quick question about marker lights for the tau. When u spend them to increase the bs of something its 1 ml = 1bs but is it for the unit or a modal?. If somone can enlighten me on this noobish question would be great :-)

well i am guessing Guard might be a good idea as you can convert them to be gean stealer cultists

i would not be surprised if there was a supplement for it but not sure if it will happen.

as for marker lights it is the whole unit and you can increase there BS to 10... but that is a bit over kill. two marker lights will ignore the cover of the target as well
