Blood bowl league 2013
I thought about it on Tuesday, although everyone enjoys blood bowl, technically, outside of our 10 games in 2012 noone actually plays. Why? We all play games of 40k, fantasy... But no Blood bowl (maybe a random game to test a team?). I think the reason is that we are not playing the game the way it has been designed: a perpetual league.
Blood bowl should be about building your team(s), make it progress through constant gaming.
A tournament over the year is excellent and we need to keep this one going, but we shouldn't build a team JUST for these 10 games. We should build our team to play these 10 games.
What I propose is to put in place a perpetual league on Stunty Leeg, build our teams on there so that each games we play matter. And when we start the 2013 tournament we use one of these teams. Not everyone has to, you could just start a fresh 110 tr team for example, but it gives people the opportunity to develop teams without having to stick to the same team over a whole year.
We could have 2-3 league commissioners that would take the results, create and record matches on the Leeg and each person would manage their own team. This way we would play the game as intended, could use our advanced team to play games of street bowl, beach bowl, blood bowl 7s... And still have our team progress.
What do you guys think? Would you play more games if you had this opportunity? How many of you are currently playing perpetual leagues on internet and would like to do the same on table top? Would it improve the Blood Bowl awareness within the club?
What do you guys think?

Re: Blood bowl league 2013
Here are the rules that I proposed.
Open league
- TR 100 start
- No pre season training skill
- Table top games only, played anytime
- The 2 players need to fill a match sheet (will print lots and leave them at the club or available to download)
- Match sheet given to a commissioner who will check it and create the game on stunty leeg
- Players to manage their own team otherwise
- Any Blood Bowl variant can be played (rules to follow)
2013 tournament
- The team participating can not play any other games than the tournament games while its duration
- There might be a TR limit for the team to be allowed to enter
- If the person wants to start a new team, TR 110 with 1 or 2 pre season training skills
- Otherwise, same rules would apply
Thoughts?

From what I'm reading I don't like the sound of it we have had friendlys at club I like the idea before rolling league with 2 divisions were u get relegated or promoted. If its an open league like u say then I'm out I like fixed matches eg a league

Re: Blood bowl league 2013
Fair enough. Personally never played a match outside of seasons games.
The open league doesn't force you to do anything, that's the point, you just play whenever you want, your team just progresses as well. It works kind of in the same way as the computers game: you organise a match, play it and skill your team up; the ranking is not really important on open.
I don't want to stop playing the fixed league, that's the "competitive" bit, with fixed matches and all, and I like it as it is. The open league is just on top of it.

Re: Blood bowl league 2013
The reason why I want to add this is based on the fact that if I start the current league, I will be stuck with a team weather I like it or not.
For example I played halflings last year. I enjoyed a few matches, but after a while it just becomes frustrating (ask frank ) I still want to play halflings once in a while and see my team progress, but never again in a fixed league over a whole year!!!
Open league allows me to do just that as well as playing a team I know I will enjoy during the fixed league.
Hope that makes sense.

Re: Blood bowl league 2013
so in a sense it lets us take more than one team... at least thats how it seems one for the open league and one for the predetermined one.... that sounds like an idea

Re: Blood bowl league 2013
Sorry i assumed you knew about Stunty Leeg in general... You create your teams, as many as you want, and manage them.
They can then be associated to several types of leagues or tournaments.
For example, you could create 3 teams, play a few games on open, then when the season starts, use one of these teams (no more open until the season finishes) or just create a new one, but also keep playing open games with a different team... If you don't like how one of your team progresses, you can retire it, start a new one...

Now that Tony has helped clarify Stunty Leeg for us I understand what you're getting at. Allowing us to choose different teams would help n00bs like me to decide which one suits us the best.

When you won't let a newbie off for setting up with 12 players, you know it's time to stop playing halflings...!
I like the idea of building BIG teams provided they play other BIG teams, and are not just used to thrash newbies...
Also I think ALL games must be recorded on Stuntyleeg, not just the ones where your favorite Star Player didn't die...
I think so long as the Results Cards are filled out BY YOUR OPPONENT (i.e. no chance anybody might "accidentally" give the players near to a skill-up someone elses SPP's), , and then confirmed by one of the Leeg Commissioners, this should be fair...
But there is a danger of "Ryan-ness" creeping in (i.e. his Necromunda gang were so much tougher than anyone else as he'd played so many more games than the rest of us).
Also getting coaches to fill out the Match Results sheets properly is easier said than done, particularly if their beloved team has just been annihilated...
This might work but we would probably need to use the Spiralling Expenses rules for BIG teams.
Re: Blood bowl league 2013
Yep definitely, I wouldn't expect anyone to not be fair about matches... Your war dancer died? Tough, hide him next time...
For match results, I have a match sheet for both people to fill in (something like 11 kills 5; 8 scores td...) so that there is no cheating. And league commisionner will record it on the website.
Spiralling expenses will of course be in to penalise big tv teams (will be sorted by commissioners) and that should be enough to balance the teams out (and if it doesn't we'll improvise). I think blood bowl is much more balanced than most games once all rules are considered sp we shouldn't encounter any big problem.
To reassure people, I ran my own website with the same program used by the stunty leeg for 2 years, and included a few tournaments in, and haven't had any major issue. I'll talk to frank tomorrow, try to we on rules and I'll write them down to get things started for new year.
