BRGA AGM 2012-12: 02/04/13
Calling All BRGANs
Our Financial year end is coming up at 31/03/13, so I've decided our AGM will be 02/04/13.
This is when we discuss our amount raised for charity, club finances, organisation, and all things that relate to the club.
It's also when Club Leader, Treasurer, Membership Secretary and other Club Positions - 40k Leader, Warhammer Leader, Forum Moderator(VACANT), Club Promoter(VACANT), GCN KNIGHT(VACANT) are reappointed.
If anyone wants to apply for these posts, including mine, prepare a statement (reply to this post) detailing how you would lead the club in a different direction.
I'm more than happy for anyone to take over as Club Leader, all I would say is I believe our current status as a Not-For-Profit club raising funds for Charity is the correct approach.
This gains us half price hall hire and gives us credibility when applying for grants as a community helper, rather than a club with selfish ambitions. If we had many more members, we could perhaps look at running BRGA for profit, but it's against the ethic which I created the club for...as your Leader, I will yield to whatever the majority decide is in the club's best interests.
All BRGANS are encouraged to think hard about what they want from the club and prepare questions / suggestions for the AGM.
PLEASE If you cannot make the AGM for any reason, please COLLATE your IDEAS into 1 Reply to this topic by 01/04/13, rather than making 50 reply suggestions as wild ideas pop into your heads ... and please no witty retort posts (I.E. "Hey, I'll F**king Moderate the Bl**dy Forum")
I will then print these replys at midnight 01/04/13, and bring them with me to the AGM.
Thanks for your continued support of BRGA.
Frank Hill, Club Leader

Re: BRGA AGM 2012-12: 02/04/13
I sadly am not able to get down to club as often as I would like nowadays, but I would be happy to moderate the forum.
As far as ideas for the AGM are concerned I would like us to raise the profile of the club-we have thrudbowl ofc but I was thinking of say an open day or a large game day to attract local people to wander in and take a look at what we do, this may also have the effect of garnering us some new members. If we continue to be a 'not for profit' club then this will help us immeasurably in that regard too.
The club in westmeads does this every year and attracts local businesses to sell models/supplies.
we also need to pool our collective resources more in terms of building terrain and boards- I know Richard et al have done stirling work in that regard, but I feel we all need to take a higher responsibility in maintaining and creating terrain for our games.

I like Steve's idea of an open day
Let us know when you have picked a Forum moderator and I will assign permissions to that user
I would love to take on the role of Club Promoter but at the moment I just can't afford/justify coming down to the club (though I am starting a new job in April )
But I would love to make suggestions, really push viral marketing, if you do decide to use wordpress as the platform for the website you sync it with facebook and twitter.
Maybe a Saturday daytime club (maybe fortnightly for children, they will be the future adult players as they get older)
I think your doing a sterling Job though Frank and I personally would vote for you to stay Club Leader.

I second Steve's idea of an open day, as the open day in the West Meads group was how I heard of BRGA.

I think the boards need another look at, I appreciate the hard work Rich put into the boards but I think they are a little too over complicated for boards that are moved about a lot, anything with a covering will get damaged. I think simple matt coloured boards would be better and last longer and more emphasis on nice terrain to go on top. There's plenty of beautiful pre built, pre painted kits now at half the cost of GW. I'm happy to help on the terrain side I do worry about the care of items left at the club.
An open day or day events would be great for the club! I just don't think we're ready.
Chris.
