400pts Tournament Battle Report.
Thought I'd write up the three short games that happened when I fielded Lord Zambia's list.
Haemonculus (Combat drugs, sissorhand, tormentor helm, hell mask)
10 Grotesques
5 Mandrakes
10 Warriors (2 Blasters, 2 Splinter Cannons)
Total = 400
Due to my lack of models. The Wyches are Grots and the sprayed black warriors are Mandrakes.
I cannot remember exactly what each team I fought had so you'll just have to bare with me on that front. The boards were between 3-4foot wide. We played kill points over 6 turns or to a time limit, which ever was reached first.
First Match
Tau vs DE
Deployment
I won the roll off and deployed first. He failed to steal the initiative.
DE Deployment:
Tau Deployment:
Turn 1
Dark Eldar:
Movement phase: My Mandrakes move forwards, one on the left side with my Grots and two on the right side, feeling I will need to deploy them over their to support the warriors. Warriors are far out of shooting range so I move them forwards. Grots move up as well.
Shooting phase: The Splinter cannons are now in range and fire at the fire warriors, resulting in no deaths. Mandrakes run and Grots run getting about 4 inches or so.
Assault phase: N/A
Tau:
Movement phase: The battlesuits move forwards.
Shooting phase: The Tau on the left side of the board are unable to hurt the Grots as their weapons are not greater than Str 6 and/or in range to hit them. On the right side of the board, I lose 9 of the 10 warriors. The lone troop passes his morale test.
Assault phase: The Tau suits jump back to get out of shooting range.
Turn 2
Dark Eldar:
Movement phase: Mandrakes move up again. Grots move up.
Shooting phase: The warrior fires, killing a Firewarrior. Mandrakes run further up the board. Grots ran.
Assault phase: Grots are in assault range and hit the firewarriors. Killed all six and consolidated around the battlesuits.
Tau:
Movement phase: Battlesuits turn to face the Grots.
Shooting phase: Firewarriors kill the last warrior. Battlesuits fire on the Grots, wounding a couple and killing one.
Assault phase: Battlesuits charge into the Grots, not doing a lot and taking a wound.
Turn 3
Dark Eldar:
Movement phase: Mandrakes move up. Mandrakes deploy near the Firewarriors.
Shooting phase: Mandrakes fire their splinter pistols at the Firewarriors.
Assault phase: Mandrakes charge the Firewarriors. All Firewarriors die. The Grots kill the two battlesuits.
Tau:
Movement phase: Move near the Mandrakes.
Shooting phase: They kill 3 of them. They fail leadership test and run.
Assault phase: He didn't assault and I didn't call him on it.
Game over. 3 Kill points for 1.
Second Match
Dark Angels vs DE
Deployment
He won the roll off and I failed to steal the initiative.
DE Deployment:
DA Deployment:
Turn 1
Dark Angels:
Movement phase: With his Space Marines out of range, they start to move up down the flank.
Shooting phase: The snipers open fire on the Grots which are given a 5+ cover save from the crashed aircraft. A couple of wounds are taken and one dies. The Space Marines run, taking a difficult terrain test as they move over the rocky hillside.
Assault phase: N/A
Dark Eldar:
Movement phase: Everything moves forwards.
Shooting phase: Everything runs forwards.
Assault phase: N/A
Turn 2
Dark Angels:
Movement phase: Space Marines moved up.
Shooting phase: Boltguns cannot hurt Grots and were out of range of the warriors. Snipers continue to lay down shots on the poor Grots, taking more wounds. I believe another one died, but according to the photograph I am wrong.
Assault phase: N/A
Dark Eldar:
Movement phase: Mandrakes continue to move up along with the Grots.
Shooting phase: Space Marines are in range of some of the splinter rifles and both splinter cannons. With some good hits and some bad rolls, he losses a couple of Marines. The Mandrakes and Grots ran.
Assault phase: N/A
Turn 3
Dark Angels:
Movement: I believe nothing moved.
Shooting phase: The snipers peeled off another two Grots. They passed their leadership test. The Marines fired at the warriors, but due to the two flamers in the group, two boltguns wasn't enough to land kills on the warriors.
Assault phase: N/A
Dark Eldar:
Movement phase: The mandrakes moved up. The grots moved closer.
Shooting phase: The warriors opened fire on the Space Marines, killing another another one or so. The Mandrakes deployed and fired, doing nothing.
Assault phase: The Grots were just in range and charged to the Scouts. The Mandrakes were also easily in range and charged. The Grots maimed a large number of scouts, forcing them to take a morale test, however due to their Dark Angels ability, they regrouped at the board edge and due to the high initiative of the haemonculi, the sweep and advance enabled me to keep up and keep them locked in combat. The Mandrakes assault against the Space Marines wasn't overly successful - killing one Marine, however due to the terrain he was only able to get about 3 counter attacks - resulting in nothing.
Terrible out of focus. :S
Turn 4
Dark Angels:
Movement phase: N/A
Shooting phase: N/A
Assault phase: The scouts took another massive set of blows and a wound was saved on the Haemonculi and another Grot died I believe. The Space Marines continued to engage the Mandrakes in melee, not taking any losses and killing a couple more Mandrakes, leadership test was past.
Dark Eldar:
Movement phase: The warriors moved closer.
Shooting phase: The warriors ran closer.
Assault phase: The scouts were mopped up and the Grots consolidated towards the Marines. Combat continued between the Mandrakes and Space Marines, the Dark Angels bringing their number to one.
Turn 5
Dark Angels:
Movement phase: N/A
Shooting phase: N/A
Assault phase: Killing the last Mandrake, the Marines were conflicted about which direction to consolidate. In the end they chose the Grots are probably too hard and moved towards the warriors.
Dark Eldar:
Movement phase: The warriors moved closer. The Grots moved down.
Shooting phase: With the Space Marines in rapid fire range of 6 splinter rifles, 2 splinter cannons and 2 blasters; they got melted.
Assault phase: N/A
Game over. 2 Kill points for 1.
Round three later.
