1k 40k tournament! date tbc

Hi all!,
Im thinking of running a tournament (over one evening) at club. it will be 1k using standard codex stuff. I have not got a definite date in mind as of yet, but am looking to gauge interest at this time. I had the following thoughts:
1) 1K as above

2) Games are played on 4x4 boards (I have two and I know others have so we should have enough)I set up the scenery for each board. This remains fixed for each table over the course of the evening

3)We play 3 games. The first game is a random match up. Each game lasts one houror five turns (with a 10 min warm up period to discuss models, cover saves etc)-this may seem short but is neccesary to ensure games are complete.

4)you socre points for W/L/D. I add up the totals and assign people to play games against others based on how the did ie winners play winners, losers play losers etc. I think that seems fair.

5) I thought that after game one we could have a ten question 40k quiz on which you will each score one point. the results of this are added to your tourney score.

6) A copy of each army list should be provided to the judge (me) keeping one to discuss with youe opponent.

7) before each game I will shout out the results of a random role for misson/deployment etc to ensure we all play the same random game

Any thoughts?

cool.. Im at work tonight sadly, But will look at my shift pattern asap and work out a date. Once I have definite numbers we can ensure we have sufficent boards. Then its just a case of you guys sorting out your army lists to fight anyone

greetings tourney players!

I have now got a preliminary date of the 10th MAY for the 1K BRGA tournament.

After Disscussions last tuesday I feel it is best if we:-
1) Split the tourney over two sessions (please note I may not be able to do the subsequent tuesday due to work but thats TBC)
2) We will now play 4 games in total. 2 Each session.
3) The quiz will take place on session one
4) Each game will now last 1hour 45min or 5 turns.
5 you will score 30pts for a win 20 for a draw and 10 for a loss. Each correct quiz answer nets you one more precious point
I will need confirmation ASAP of all those attending and their proposed army and its list. This is too ensure that the list is the same one over each session.

As Elvis said though, it has to clearly say it's allowed within your FOC; also if a unit is judged too powerful, Steve should probably have the last word on their authorisation for the tourney.

No worries.

Tournament is a go for tuesday. Can we start as promptly as possible say 1900.
Can I emphasis that as it is a tournament People are welcome to watch the games but any 'help' or comments from bystanders is to be discouraged.

I hope not too but any deliberate breach of the rules or bad sportsmanship will lead to a warning if it happens a second time I will deduct points from the offenders. Let's just have a competitive but none the less friendly game(s)

I can also say that after talking to Frank we now have a lovely demon model from heresy models as a prize for the top spot as well as a nice little prize for the player unlucky enough to come last.

Can I remind players that they need two copies of thier list if possible. There will be Two games played this Tuesday as well as the quiz. I plan to post the answers after the quiz is done on wednesday. Ideally we need even numbers. In the case of odd numbers I will play using my Deathwing.
